Liverpool beat Crystal Palace in our first home game of the season. Our man at the game @_RahulTanna brings his match day experience report:

Yesterday I travelled up to Anfield for the match against Crystal Palace in Liverpool’s first game at home in the 2017/18 Premier League Campaign.

As many people know from my previous articles, I travel to every Liverpool game home and away from London. This takes up a lot of my time, money, and energy, but I would not change this feeling for anything else in the world.

I was not feeling confident at all on Saturday morning, based on how Crystal Palace normally play against us at Anfield, there was always the fear of losing or being humiliated.

I jumped on the coach run by the Liverpool Hertfordshire Supporters Club at 8am, and was off to Anfield. It had been a long three-four months without being at Anfield, I was absolutely buzzing to be back. I missed the match day feeling, getting to the ground two hours before the ground, buying chips outside the ground, and then heading to the Sandon for a quick drink with the regulars. No better feeling then being with your friends and family watching the club you all love with pride and passion.

I normally get into the ground 30 minutes before kick off with my mates Roopa and Oliver, as we hold up my Sadio Mané banner in the Kop before the game starts. As I walking to the turnstiles in the Kop I checked the starting line up on my phone and saw a lot of changes to the squad that started against Watford and Hoffenheim.

It was clear that Jürgen had taken a safer approach, and rested a few players for the second leg at Anfield this Wednesday against Hoffenheim. I was in mixed emotions about seeing some of the changes; Sturridge, Gomez, Robertson, Klavan and Milner all starting.

The Match

The main talking point of the game was when Salah and Solanke came on, both have the ability to move with the ball and push off defenders. Salah was constantly causing trouble on the wing, with his fast pace and quick movement.

Liverpool finally managed to score a goal, Mané and Solanke’s one two passing, which put Mané in the perfect position to tap the ball in. Liverpool 1-0 Palace.

It wasn’t the best of performances, but definitely a well deserved win.

Back on the coach as soon as the game ended, and another five hour trip home. Can’t wait to be back on Wednesday!
