17-year-old Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn has sent fans giddy with his goal for Wales on Saturday night.

Chris Coleman’s team were drawing 0-0 with Austria during their crucial World Cup qualifier game in Cardiff – until he brought the teenager on.

After coming on in the 69th minute it took Woodburn until the 74th to fire home the only goal of the game and opened his international account in style.

The goal has sent Reds giddy with excitement and heralds the youngster as one to watch for the future.

“Reminds me of the goal Rooney scored for Everton against Arsenal. Not the same but something reminiscent though,” said one Reddit user – although the Toffies reference might not go down too well with Anfield die hards.

Speaking about the strike, Wales Online reported that he said: “It was a dream come true really, the crowd was amazing and the team was great.

“To top it off I scored and it was the best I could’ve wished for. I honestly can’t tell you, it’s all a blur, it just went mad.

“They’re (team-mates) congratulating me, but we’re just happy to get the win. On to the next one now. It’s massive, it keeps us in qualification now so a win for great for us.”
