Liverpool have a huge number of celebrity fans but they picked up on more yesterday as a Star Wars legends tweets his approval for the club!

A club as big and as famous as Liverpool has numerous celebrity fans. But yesterday we picked up another. This one is a legend from the Star Wars series. None other than Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.

Yesterday morning as we were about to take on Manchester City at the Etihad stadium, Mark Hamill tweeted his support for the club. He lightsaber may be green but his heart is Red!

He admits that he is not much a football fan but would choose Liverpool as his club out of love for the The Beatles and their city of origin. That’s good enough for me.

Luke Skywalker is not the first Jedi Knight to be a Red. Actor Liam Neeson is a lifelong Liverpool fan. He played Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in Episode I of the Star Wars series, The Phantom Menace. He has been seen at games numerous time over the years. The great thing about having Neeson as a fan is that he is not just a Jedi. He is also Aslan, Zeus and Ra’s al Ghul!

We also have Samuel L Jackson who played Mace Windu in the prequel trilogy. Jackson became a fan of the club after visiting Anfield while shooting the movie ‘The 51st State’ which was filmed in the city. Like many before and since he was overwhelmed by the Anfield experience and became a Liverpool fan for life.

Next: Watch Naby Keita score a wonder goal!

So we now have three Jedi’s and a James Bond in out ranks as Kopites! Daniel Craig has recently announced that he will continue as 007 in the next movie in his fifth outing as Bond.
