These are the 20 Liverpool legends you want to have back in defense
Alan Hansen
Scotish international Alan Hansen might have come from north of the border but he took to Liverpool like a duck to water.
After joining the club for just £100,000 in 1977, he went on to feature 620 times and won more awards than you could shake a stick at.
The original ball-playing defender, Hansen would use his footwork to get himself out of trouble. An attribute that Jurgen Klopp would probably love from his defenders today.
Prefering to stay on his feet rather than fly aggressively into challenges, Hansen was hardly ever booked and rarely sent off – an impressive feat today, never mind in the 1980s!
