Rob Jones

Wrexham born Rob Jones never scored a goal for Liverpool during his whole career, but he did help them to one FA Cup and one League Cup.

Jones was an outstanding full-back who had the pace and skill of an attacking player, and was included in the PFA Team of the Year for the 1991/1992 and 1994/1995 seasons.

Injuries stopped his career temporarily in 1996 and was diagnosed with back trouble that cost him six months of his career, while a knee injury in 1998 finally put a stop to it for good. He was only 28-year-old.

It’s a great shame for a player who Jamie Carragher though was ‘one of the best in Europe’. Injuries robbed us of an excellent player at far too young an age!
