These are the 20 Liverpool legends you want to have back in defense
Neil Ruddock
Neil Ruddock only had one appearance for England but that doesn’t matter to the Anfield faithful. He would sort this spineless lot out instantly.
The defender was undoubtedly a hard man and it has been claimed that he intentionally tried to injure Peter Beardsley during a testimonial match clash that left the wizard with a fractured cheekbone in three places.
Ruddock often played as a sweeper in a three man defence during Roy Evans’ first season in charge, and this suited his lack of pace down the ground.
His poor discpline and fitness cost him during the end of his Anfield career, but his tough nature and aerial prowess remain something to be admired.
