Ron Yeats

Another captain of Liverpool, Ron Yeats played at the club from 1961 until 1971 – a decade of service in which he played 454 times.

Yeats was another giant, commanding defender that Bill Shankley had at his disposal – how Jurgen Klopp must be jealous of him now.

With the Scot in the team, the Reds quickly gained promotion to the first division as well as first division titles in 1964 and 1966.

Yeats was often paired with Tommy Smith, although unlike his partner he didn’t play dirty just for the sake of it. Despite his success, he only played twice for Scotland, although this could be down to their domestic-based selection policy.
