Liverpool face the dangerous Sevilla on Wednesday night in their first Champions League game of the season.

The Spaniards beat them 1-0 in Basel to claim the Europa League trophy, but now Jurgen Klopp is ready to write some new, better memories.

However, the Reds are going into the game after a 4-0 drubbing against Manchester City and Klopp will need to be at his motivational best to get the players back into winning ways.

Sevilla play their football in a similar manner to the Reds and so it looks likely to be a good game, explained Reddit user and Los Nervionenses fan Sevillista.

With a midfield three and an attacking trident composed of skillful, pacey players, the Spanish outfit should be able to pose a threat on the break – the user added.

Former Manchester City man Jesus Navas is back playing in his native land and his pace is likely to cause problems down the right hand side – something Liverpool will need to be careful about.

Up front will be either Wissam Ben Yedder or Colombian striker Luis Murial. Ben Yedder has one league goal and two Champions League qualifying round strikes, while Murial is the quicker and more mobile option of the pair – added Sevillista.

The 26-year-old signed for £16m in the summer but has only played twice in La Liga and hasn’t scored yet, but has the quality to cause problems for Liverpool’s defence.

Sevilla play an energetic brand of football that could mean a really interesting game to watch on Wednesday. They’re also not great at the back, but have brought in players this summer who can make a difference.

Although they may change their playing style away from home, reckons Rob Palmer. He told liverpoolfc.com: “It’ll be the same formula they had in the Europa League – keep it tight away from home.

“Defend, frustrate and if you can quieten Anfield, which isn’t easy to do, and then rely on what you can do when you get back home.”

But what will the result be? Well, Sevillista reckons it will be a home win. “With two great offenses and two questionable defenses, this match could really go either way, but I mostly expect Liverpool to punish our defense,” concluded the user.
