Liverpool player ratings: Forwards

Liverpool. MOHAMED SALAH. 8. Salah was everywhere today, and was clearly the best player for Liverpool. He made his way into the box in the 18th minute and drew penalty shouts from the fans occupying the Kop, but nothing was given. He made a great run in the 30th and provided Liverpool with an immediate response to Burnley’s goal. His pace continued to torment Matthew Lowton throughout the game, and Salah was taken down inside the box again in the 85th minute. But just as was the case with the earlier incident, the ref saw no issue with the challenge. The Egyptian winger put on a strong performance today, and his effort deserved a better result.. Right Forward

6. Fans were certainly hoping for more from Sturridge today. He looked dangerous early in the game, but his shot repeatedly let him down. And unfortunately, the English striker almost disappeared in the second half. Sturridge is undoubtedly a real talent, but he is perhaps better used as a spark plug off the bench with this Liverpool team. His underwhelming performance just further proved the team will desperately miss Sadio Mané against Leicester next week.. Center Forward. Liverpool. DANIEL STURRIDGE

Bobby was his usual dangerous self, but it was evident that he misses Mané more than maybe anyone else. He often struggled to bring the same efficiency on the left as he does when playing in the middle of the park. And while the Brazilian is certainly no turtle, he didn’t appear to have the necessary pace to provide Liverpool with the devastating wing play we’ve grown accustomed to seeing. With the team still drawing 1-1 in the 78th minute, Firmino was taken off for substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.. Left Forward. Liverpool. ROBERTO FIRMINO. 7

Substitutes:

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 5

It’s certainly no fault of the Ox that he was brought into the game with only 12 minutes remaining. But it is however his fault that when he did enter the pitch, he was nowhere to be seen. Our newest signing does deserve a chance to start soon though. Hopefully Klopp provides the 24-year-old the chance to prove himself in the near future.

Dominic Solanke – 6

Unlike Oxlade-Chamberlain, Solanke was anything but invisible when he came on as a late sub. And the youngster had a chance to be a hero late in the game when a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross found him in front of the net. But unfortunately for the Chelsea academy product and the home fans, he was denied by Nick Pope on the glorious chance. Solanke is showing some real signs of positivity though.
