Klopp admits the team is not fixed – does that mean it’s broken?
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted the team is not fixed ahead of their Champions League game against Spartak Moscow.
The Reds have suffered from mixed form this campaign, but go into the game on the back of a much needed win against Leicester City.
But still, the same old errors kept on happening and the squad looks severely depleted at the back – something Klopp has acknowledged. But that doesn’t mean things are broken.
“We have a lot of things to do, 100 per cent, but we all know we are on a good way. Yes, a few things are not fixed, which happens when you are not flying,” Liverpoolfc.com reported that he said.

Despite sitting in fifth position in the league, Liverpool have still conceded 11 goals in six games and that remains a concern.
However, Klopp still isn’t concerned – rightly – because the gap is so small. “It’s not the perfect season, but we have 11 points,” he continued. “The teams with the perfect season so far have 16, so that’s a five-point difference.”
The team possesses some of the best attackers in the league, and they have done a lot better as only Manchester City and Manchester United have both outscored the Reds – while Chelsea sit on the same amount of goals.
But, this is still a positive and with Philippe Coutinho back the scoring rate should improve as spark and creativity gets added into the midfield.
There is still a lot more to come from every department of the side. Finishing has been poor, the squad lacks a real defensive midfielder and the defending has been painful to watch at times.
Although Klopp maintains the squad is still a work in progress, and the number of youngsters around the first team would give weight to that statement.
But football is a notoriously short-term game and there is only so much fans and owners can take. There are only so many calls for patience that can be stomached before real progress is expected.

So if this team really is going to get better, and it can, the gaffer needs to accelerate their progress and fix what’s broken. But at least he knows things should be better.
