Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

Great to see how confident TAA is in these big games. He believes he deserves to be there and backs his talent. Got forward well and helped build a couple of incisive Liverpool attacks. Paid due attention to all his defensives responsibilities. Hard to remember he is only 18-years-old.. Right Back. Liverpool. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD. 8

JOEL MATIP. 7. Calm and in control. You get the feeling he is starting to trust Trent Alexander-Arnold a little more with every game and that is helping him concentrate on his positioning and decision making.. Center Back. Liverpool

7. Had a strong game. Nothing particularly special but if he can consistently play at this kind of level it will be a great base for us to build on. Came out to steal the ball well on a number of occasions. No huge errors or lapses in concentration. This is what we need week in, week out.. Center Back. Liverpool. DEJAN LOVREN

6. Not heavily involved in either defense or attack. Spartak tried to highlight Alexander-Arnold and Emre Can who picked up an early yellow. There were a couple of times where he was caught too far forward and was not immediately aware of the danger. Luckily for him – and us – they were not punished.. Left Back. Liverpool. ALBERTO MORENO
