Liverpool Player Ratings: Midfielders

5. Picked up an early yellow card after losing control of the ball and flying into to a late tackle. Gave away the ball with a needles no-look pass in the defensive third which led to the Spartak free kick and goal. A poor display with no composure from the German. Replaced by Wijnaldum in the 74th minute.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. EMRE CAN

Center Midfield. Liverpool. JORDAN HENDERSON. 6. A solid game to build on after his strong showing at the weekend. Was busy in all phases of the game helping everything tick over nicely. Put in a very nice cross lat on for Sturridge who blazed over. There are times when you just want a captain, especially a midfielder, to elevate to the level to help dominate. That is something we need for him to do more often.

Liverpool. PHILIPPE COUTINHO. 8. Liverpool’s best player tonight. His goal was a fantastic one-two with Mane with a killer finish. Coutinho buzzed with the ball doubling up the left hand side and causing problems for Spartak on numerous occasions. Gave a way the free kick for the goal but was perhaps unlucky to see that given against him.. Center Midfield
