7: v Arsenal 2012/13
Luis Suarez had already put Liverpool ahead before Henderson scored a one man goal of sheer willpower. This was a huge Premier League game at the Emirates and Liverpool needed a positive result. Henderson picks the ball up from Daniel Sturridge 30 yards out from goal. He proceeds to jink left and right fooling the flummoxed Arsenal defenders.
One last dummy to his left sets him up for the finish. He pokes the ball with his right foot but the keeper stands. Yet the rebound falls to Henderson’s left foot and slams the ball home for the 2-0 lead. Two second half goals from the Gunners would mean that we would only grab a point.
Despite criticism over the years no one can doubt the effort given by our captain. He always gives the club his everything. You cannot label any accusations against him of laziness or apathy. This goal highlights his work ethic and determination. This time round he got his due reward.
