Jack Whitham

Born in 1946, it took Jack Whitham three months to score his first goal for Liverpool, but first team opportunities were severely limited and the forward failed to add to that tally during the 1970/1971 season.

After impressing for Sheffield Wednesday, Whitham moved to Merseyside for £57,000 in 1970 but made just 15 league appearances in four years.

During that time he actually hit seven goals – not a bad return, but five of them came from two games as Whitham struggled for consistency.

Injuries and a lack of game time meant the lad’s contract was terminated by mutual consent after hardly playing for two years.
