Andy Carroll

The poor lad was whipped away from his beloved Toon so quickly that he had to google his new Liverpool teammates. He never settled, the price tag weighed him down and he was rubbish.

We’ll never know what career the Geordie wrecking ball might have had if he’d stayed up north, but his time at Liverpool did him no favours.

Andy Carroll was unsuited to their style of play and his lack of pace let him down. 44 league appearances followed in three years, but a return of just six goals isn’t good enough.

With two goals on his first start it could have been different, and further highlights included two winnings strikes against Everton. But this was a match that should never have been.
