Stefan De Vrij

Lazio defender Stefan De Vrij could be on the move to Liverpool on a free transfer – or for money, according to reports.

The Dutch international is currently in a contract stand off with his Italian club, who are arguing with the player over the insertion of a release clause in his contract.

De Vrij wants the fee to be €25 million, while the club want it to be €45 million. But while the two squabble, the clock ticks down toward the defender being able to leave on a free.

The Reds could certainly do with another senior defender on the books, due to the poor form of their current crop.
