Liverpool ran out to a huge 7-0 win tonight against Maribor in the Champions League. Here are our Liverpool player ratings from the big win.

We needed that. Over the last few months as we have created (and squandered) chance after chance we have said ‘someone is going to get a pasting’. Turns out that someone was Maribor.

The game started with a quick Roberto Firmino goal which would follow the template for the entire match. Hard work winning the ball. Quick passing to create to space. Clinical finish. That last step has been long missing from our play. The one win in eight previous games has been hard to stomach so seeing so many Reds grab goals and assists was a joy to watch.

Firmino and Salah would both finish with braces with Coutinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexander-Arnold picking up the other three goals. It is worth noting that this was a second clean sheet in a row and another good performance from our defense. Moreno has been in good form all season but if Matip and Lovren are improving too then we have some good cause for hope this season.

Here are our Liverpool player ratings:

7.  I have no idea why Klopp wants to continue with the Karius in the Champions League thing. Saying that this was the perfect game to put him in to give Mignolet a rest. He was a passenger for the entire game. Yet somehow Maribor still offered more goal threat than United at the weekend!. Goalkeeper. Liverpool. LORIS KARIUS
