Liverpool Player Ratings: Midfielders

8. I love watching Emre Can boss a midfield. He is built to be one of the most dominate midfielders in Europe and when he comes out with the confidence and determination he showed today there are few midfields that can compete. A monster. I hope we can sign him up soon.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. EMRE CAN

9. A cool and composed head in the midfield. Brought all his experience to bear on this game, using the ball wisely and finding incisive passes. Perhaps the best performance from any Liverpool central midfielder this season. Hard to know if it can translate from Maribor to the Premier League but maybe it is worth finding out.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. JAMES MILNER

Got the nod ahead of Jordan Henderson and had a relatively quiet game compared to the rest of the Liverpool midfield and forward line. He linked up well throughout and kept possession tidy and Maribor breaks in check. Not quite Anfield Gini but not far off.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. GINI WIJNALDUM. 7
