Liverpool sunk to a horrible 4-1 loss against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in the Premier League. Here are our Liverpool player ratings v Spurs:

After two clean sheets in consecutive games Liverpool returned to form with a mistake strewn defensive performance to hand Tottenham Hotspur an easy 4-1 victory for them at Wembley.

We are all very aware of how both Mignolet and Lovren can have ‘one of those games’. Well they decided to have one on the same afternoon this week. They were not the only ones to blame as Matip and the midfield contributes to this terrible Premier League loss.

The result leaves us in 9th place after a quarter of the season has been played. This game is the clearest example yet of Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp’s greatest flaws and mismanagement. Spurs were decent on the day, and Pochettino nailed it with their formation. Ultimately though the Reds undid themselves with woeful defending and a lack of belief.

Four out of the five defenders and keeper are Brendan Rodgers signings. The Northern Irishman got fired for how we defended towards the end of his reign. That Klopp has not addressed those starters in the transfer market – or improved them as a coach – is the biggest mark against him as Liverpool boss.
