Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

6. Started the game at right back but was moved inside to replace Lovren at center back. His pace in the middle was an immediate help to the back four. With Lovren in desperate straits and Klavan unusable we have to go with Gomez more at CB, even without Clyne fit. Gave a good go at it in the second half too.. Right Back. Liverpool. JOE GOMEZ

Center Back. Liverpool. JOEL MATIP. 5. It is easy to lay all blame at the door of Lovren but Matip was at fault for first and third Spurs’ goals also. He wasn’t alert enough to the danger from Lovren’s mistake for the first and could have got more on his header for the third. A bad day for the back four all round. If he is the leader of the back four then he isn’t doing a very good job.

1. Things do not look good for Dejan Lovren. Let the ball to Kane dip over his head and then made next to no effort to get back. Proceeded to try and head a long ball on the half way line and missed allowing Kane in again, this time to set up Son. Made two more errors before being hooked by Klopp for Oxlade-Chamberlain.. Center Back. Liverpool. DEJAN LOVREN

5. He has been Liverpool’s most consistent defender this season but was not in great positions for Tottenham Hotspur’s first two goals. Didn’t offer anything going forward as we hardly go forward at all. At the moment Moreno is the sole example of how Klopp has improved any of our defenders through coaching.. Left Back. Liverpool. ALBERTO MORENO
