Liverpool transfer news: The latest on Emre Can’s contract hold out, the future of Leon Goretzka and a new deal for a Brazilian target.

We are now in November meaning we are nearer to the opening of the next transfer window than we are to the closing of the last. The Reds have done relatively little business in January over the last few seasons but that could well change this Winter. We have all the latest Liverpool transfer new to keep you update with all the Anfield comings and goings.

Emre Can contract

There has been worryingly few updates on the contract negotiations between Liverpool and German midfielder Emre Can. News coming out of Anfield is that there is a total stalemate in the discussions. The midfielder wants a release fee in any deal and Liverpool are refusing to give in to that demand.

This makes him “almost certain” to leave Anfield by next summer. If that moves from ‘almost’ to ‘absolutely’ then Liverpool may try to sell him in January to gain some recompense rather than letting him walk for free.

Leon Goretzka future

The news about Emre Can has only increased speculation about Leon Goretzka. The Schalke midfielder is also available in the summer and his club are considering selling him in January also. It is being reported that Barcelona and Liverpool are the leading candidates for the German international. There are rumors that he may already have an agreement with Barca so Liverpool will have to make a big move if they are to grab him as a replacement for Can.

Brazilian signs new deal

One of Liverpool’s transfer targets has signed a new deal with his current club. Brazilian playmaker Luan has penned a new 3-year deal with Gremio. The forward was heavily linked to an Anfield move in the summer before the Mohamed Salah deal was concluded. The Reds have retained an interest in the 24-year-old and may not be put off by the new deal as they seek to bolster their forward options.
