Liverpool Player Ratings: Midfield

6. I am not sure Klopp wants to play Emre Can anymore after he is almost certain to leave the club in 2018. The German midfielder could easily check out but he is driven to make the Germany World Cup side. He was adequate defensively today but certainly looks most comfortable when he has the ball at  his feet and driving forwards.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. EMRE CAN

GINI WIJNALDUM. 7. One of his better performances away from Anfield. Tidy with possession and involved with play at both ends. He loves playing with Sadio Mane and the two look to connect often. One crucial block from a Darren Fletcher shot helped keep Liverpool ahead.. Center Midfield. Liverpool

RIght Midfield. Liverpool. ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN. 6. There were two formations at play tonight. The side started off as a traditional 442 with Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right. As the game went on it turned more into the usual 433 with Mane pressing further forward and AOC playing deeper and narrower. All the effort and hard work that characterizes his pay was present plus a few moment of real quality. He is playing as a consistent squad player but needs to find another level or two if he is to crack the first team regularly.
