Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

Started the game at right back ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold. As is usual for bigger games Klopp like to use Gomez as a defensively secure full back. The England international shifted inside after the fifth goal went in and Lovren had gone off.. Right Back. Liverpool. JOE GOMEZ. 7

RAGNAR KLAVAN. 7. The Estonian was good to start after missing out at the weekend with an illness. The early goals took the pressure off the back four and they could sit deep to give the forwards space to counter. He had one excellent block late in the first half to keep the score at 3-0.. Center Back. Liverpool

Liverpool. DEJAN LOVREN. 7. Played the first hour before being withdrawn to keep him fit for the derby on Sunday. The back four had little to do with Spartak reduced to shooting from distance from early on. For a player who is so derided, we keep a lot of clean sheets when he plays.. Center Back

Liverpool. ALBERTO MORENO. 7. Only played the first half but did well before leaving with injury on the stroke of half time. As he hobbled off he was in tears. The Spaniard has worked incredibly hard to get back into the first team. You got the impression as he left the pitch that he could end up missing a chunk of time.. Left Back
