Liverpool superstar Philippe Coutinho is a wizard with the ball at his feet and has made life difficult for the opposition for years.

But a lot of his best moments come in little snapshots: they’re clever twists and turns, intricate blink-and-you’ll-miss-them moments that aren’t always captured on TV.

Do your homework, though, and there is a lot to treasure in the way Coutinho plays his football. And one of them came against Spartak Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

In a video clip posted on Twitter, the Barcelona target cleverly get around his man with a sneaky show-and-go followed by a burst of pace to drive into the available space.

This sort of thing show why Coutinho is so valuable to Liverpool. Not only does he score and create, but the former Inter Milan man also makes like unpredictable for the defence and can open up space that was previously under lock and key.

When the wizard gets on the ball, he is one of the finest in the league and the Reds can’t afford to let him go in January.

An incredible run of form has opened up the Premier League, while there are still Champions League honours to aspire towards. Selling Coutinho would hurt both those ambitions – while the club probably aren’t going to win the league, the rest of the top four is up for grabs.
