Liverpool player ratings: Defenders

JOE GOMEZ. 9. Had a real ‘derby’ tackle midway through the first half. Came crashing in to Cuco Martina late to send the left back flying. He got jeers from the away end and cheers from every other part of the ground. Grabbed an assist by laying it off for Salah to open the scoring. Probably should have hit the target with a header from a Salah free kick but hit the rook of the net instead. Good crosses going forward and defending like a boss at the back. Turning into a very exciting player for the club.. Right Back. Liverpool

6. Gave away the penalty for Everton’s equalizer with the smallest of contact between the two players. To his credit it shouldn’t never have been given. To his chagrin he shouldn’t have made any contact going away from goal. You can call it naive but I call it stupid. We needed a clean game from our error prone players and we didn’t quite get it.. Center Back. Liverpool. DEJAN LOVREN

7. A standard Ragnar Klavan perfromance. He has grown into a real consistent patch during this extended run in the first team. I’m not sure I quite trust him but he is not a player I worry about. Dealt with Oumar Niasse with ease and was not found lacking for either pace or strength.. Center Back. Liverpool. RAGNAR KLAVAN

7. Andrew Robertson makes his second consecutive start in the Premier League with Alberto Moreno missing after picking up an injury against Spartak Moscow in midweek. Always available on the overlap and keen to put in crosses. It’s unfortunate for him that our forwards aren’t really designed for crossing. Had Rooney beat all game for pace.. Left Back. Liverpool. ANDREW ROBERTSON
