That is two Premier League starts in a row for the Scotsman in the back four. I think as the season has gone on we are seeing why Klopp has preferred Moreno so heavily over Andrew Robertson. Against both Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton he was solid. Got forward, crossed the ball, didn’t get caught in possession and was not found out of position.

Yet you would hard pressed to describe his play more than effective. It doesn’t quite get to productive and not close to superlatives. That is okay. He is young and at a big club for the first time. He needs a season or so to learn everything that he wants him to do.

Moreno has shown this season that his instincts and decision-making is much improved. He’s always had impressive physical traits and a good level of technique. Now he has added some commons sense he is developing into a decent player. His connection with Coutinho, Firmino and Mane is especially pleasing.

Next: Liverpool could return for Lyon wonderkid transfer.

With the Spaniard out Robertson should get his third consecutive Premier League start. The only other option is James Milner but he played ninety minutes against Everton and the second half of the Spartak Moscow game.
