Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD. 8. Liverpool’s best player today. Full of composure in his defending and always willing to join the attack and press higher up the pitch. This is the season for rotating but Alexander-Arnold needs far more playing time than the 40/60 spilt he is getting with Joe Gomez. The back four has better balance and the attack is wider when he plays. And we need Gomez at center back.. Right Back. Liverpool

Center Back. Liverpool. DEJAN LOVREN. 7. The West Brom striking partnership of Hal Robson-Kanu and Salomon Rondon is well suited to Dejan Lovren’s strengths. He handled the physical battle well. Although Rondon was able to hold up the ball he couldn’t do anything with it. Had nothing to do in the last 30 minutes as we pressed for a winner and West Brom brought everyone back.

Had a good first half and was on hand to make some timely clearances. Gave away a careless free kick early in the first half that led to a string of set pieces for the Baggies. You cannot lay blame at either center back after a clean sheet but we do miss a center half you can drive forward awith the ball sometimes and cause the opposition midfield to change shape.. Center Back. Liverpool. RAGNAR KLAVAN. 6

6. Unlucky early on to be called back for a shirt pull after winning the ball so well. Had little defending to do, especially in the second half but all in all did his job well. These are good minutes for the defender while Moreno is out but he needs to show a lot more if he wants to force the manager to consider him later in the season.. Left Back. Liverpool. ANDREW ROBERTSON
