Liverpool player ratings: Liverpool v Swansea – Dec 26 2017
By David Gate
Liverpool blew away Swansea City 5-0 at Anfield today to send the Reds home happy on Boxing Day. Here are our Liverpool player ratings.
An excellent second half gave Liverpool a huge win as a great response from the disappointing draw against Arsenal. A brace for Roberto Firmino and one each for Philippe Coutinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The manager made four changes from the side that drew against Arsenal at the Emirates. There was much speculation about who would start in goal after Simon Mignolet’s mistakes last week. The Belgian got a chance to redeem himself today.
Trent Alexander-Arnold swapped with Joe Gomez and Joel Matip returned to the team after injury replacing Dejan Lovren. In midfield out went Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane and in came Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gini Wijnaldum. Philippe Coutinho got the armband.
An early goal for Coutinho with a peach of finish took the gameplan away from the Swans. The Reds really should have had a few more – where have you heard that before? – until Firmino made it two in the second half. Another for the Brazilian sandwiched between one for Alexander-Arnold and Oxlade-Chamberlain completed the rout.
