Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

9. A wonder goal from the right back – his first in the league and first at Anfield. Thrown off slightly in the first half by Oxlade-Chamberlain taking his space on the right. Started the second half brightly with a sumptuous ball in for Firmino who could only flick it and not get good contact. Carried on pinging beautiful passes. Almost like he grew up watching Gerrard and Alonso.. Right Back. Liverpool. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD

JOEL MATIP. 7. Great to see Matip back in the side after most of the month with injury. He brought a composure and calmness that Liverpool so desperately need to defend well. He is not the dominate leader that you’re looking for in a the back four but he does add some organization back there.. Center Back. Liverpool

7. Another decent game in a fine run of form for Klavan. It is possible that he has now usurped Dejan Lovren as a first choice center back after this long run in the team. Had a very quiet second half as Liverpool dominated and Swansea lost all hope after the second goal.. Center Back. Liverpool. RAGNAR KLAVAN

Liverpool. ANDREW ROBERTSON. 7. Desperate to get forward and join the attacks. Had a fizzing shot midway through the first half that was just wide. Coped well against Routledge. The Scotsman is really making the most of his extended run in the side. Made way for James Milner late on after playing a ton of minutes in December since Alberto Moreno’s injury.. Left Back
