Liverpool finished 2017 with a comeback 2-1 win at home to Leicester in the Premier League. Here are our Liverpool player ratings:

The Reds ended 2017 with a victory. Mohamed Salah ended the year with another two goals. The Liverpool defense saw out the year with a terrible goal. As you are everyone!

Anticipating two games in three days Jurgen Klopp made five changes to his starting lineup. Loris Karius got the nod ahead of under pressure keeper Simon Mignolet. Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren came into the back four for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ragnar Klavan.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made way for Sadio Mane meaning all of the ‘Fab Four’ started. James Milner was captain today, and the final change ,in for Gini Wijnaldum.

Much of the pregame attention was on Virgil van Dijk who was watching from the stands before completing his signing on January 1st. He got an immediate example of what he is here to solve. Three bad defensive decisions gave Jamie Vardy a tap-in in the third minute. It tool Liverpool another 77 minutes to get ahead but they eventually got the win with Salah’s brace.

Here are our Liverpool player ratings v Leicester:

7. Got drawn to Mahrez’s cross leaving an empty net for Vardy to finish in. Was left stranded a couple more times and had not a single save to make. Does not inspire confidence and failed to take the opportunity to force Klopp to consider using him on a regular basis.. Goalkeeper. Liverpool. LORIS KARIUS
