Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

Liverpool. JOE GOMEZ. 7. The only Liverpool defender with no culpability for the early goal. He had a long range effort go over midway through the first half. Again looks like Liverpool’s most talented defender and should be playing in the middle. He does not offer the same attacking level as Alexander-Arnold and his pace is needed in the center.. Right Back

5. Sloppy pass and control in the first five minutes to give ball to Leicester that they scored from. From that point on there was an air of fragility about the back four and we were lucky that Leicester couldn’t capitalize on that. Still recovering from injury and getting up to the pace of the game.. Center Back. Liverpool. JOEL MATIP

Lovren is terrible against Jamie Vardy. That was proven in the first 5 minutes as he lost the Englishman, failing to track his run after we lost possession. Hard to watch this back four even knowing that Virgil van Dijk is coming in to the side. Lovren and Matip fighting it out for the one to make way for the new signing.. Center Back. Liverpool. DEJAN LOVREN. 6

6. Did his best to intercept the ball to Mahrez but was an inch or two too short. That left Mahrez with an easy cross to make for Vardy to finish. Was unlucky not to get an assist in the first half as Mane finished but was offside. Could have had a penalty after getting a little push on his back similiar to the penalty Everton had in the derby. Desperately tried to make something happen in the second half but his crossing was poor and he picked up a yellow late on.. Left Back. Liverpool. ANDREW ROBERTSON
