Liverpool Player Ratings: Midfield

GINI WIJNALDUM. 6. Burnley tend to bypass the central areas by trying to get it wide for a cross or hitting Barnes as early as possible. This meant most of the game passed him by. Got forward into a shooting space only to skew his shot horribly off target. I’m not sure if the Gini home/away thing is real but it sure feels like it sometimes.. Center Midfield. Liverpool

Sloppy. Again. Has the look of a player going through the motions. Gave away the ball in midfield in the first half to set up a Burnley’s best chance of the half. Bypassed in the second half as the game opened up and Liverpool chased a second.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. EMRE CAN. 6

Great to see Lallana back on the team sheet for his first start of the season. He will be very important in 2018. The pick of the midfield in the first half with his positive passing and clever through balls. Yet it was an incredible last ditch tackle that was his best moment of the half. He had to make an inch perfect slide to rub the ball from Gudmundsson who was in on goal. A quality to player to have in the squad rotation.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. ADAM LALLANA. 8
