Alan Shearer has issued a heartbreaking message to Liverpool fans following their FA Cup win over Everton on Friday night.

The Newcastle United legend took to Twitter to pen a strongly worded rebuttal to Reds supporters as they reacted to his comments during the victory.

Shearer disagreed with the penalty decision, which is something fans took as a negative and preceded to hurl personal abuse at the former England international.

Keyboard warriors have been a problem since social media has come into play and they’ve taken it to a new level this season.

After having a shocker against Tottenham Hotspur, defender Dejan Lovren was targeting for horrific abuse and ended up removing himself from the internet.

Fans came together to condone that behaviour, but unfortunately it’s reared its ugly head again as people can’t stand those who disagree with them.

But to take aim at someone’s family just for doing their job is disgraceful and those who do it should be ashamed of themselves.

They might think it’s a victimless crime but there is an individual at the other end of the screen and it does effect them.

You can see by Shearer’s response that this sort of behaviour cuts through to the core and it has to be stamped out of society.

In some ways it overshadows the excellent 2-1 victory over the Toffies, in which James Milner and new signing Virgil van Dijk got on the score sheet.
