Liverpool host their cross-city rivals Everton in the best FA Cup match this season on Friday night.

The crowds drifting into Anfield will be guaranteed a passion-fueled display of the sort that is rarely seen outside league fixtures.

Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho will miss the game, announced Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, but there is plenty of firepower in his arsenal to keep things interesting.

Liverpool have been scoring plenty of goals this campaign and lie second in the log based on that attribute, but Toffies’ fans are hoping for a closer game.

This rich vein of form has led to expectations among the fanbase for entertaining football, and there is a jealous vein of schadenfreude running through Blues supporters these days.

So much so that sections of their fan-base argued on Reddit that they’d rather see a undeserving win than Everton smash the Reds by a massive margin.

"JamewThrennan: “Would love a 1-0 win. I’d usually have a 10-0 as a dream win but a scrappy 1-0 with a jammy goal would be perfect. Would annoy Klopp so much.”peat76: “I’ll believe that (Coutinho and Salah missing the game) when I see it. This was a classic Ferguson tactic to disrupt preparations.”tealeg: “So now we know both the reds excuse and their gloat line too.”lookthepie: “Good news considering Salah was the biggest problem last time out.”"

Loris Karius has also been named in the starting XI by Klopp, while new recruit Virgin van Dijk could make his first appearance for the club.

Whoever pulls on the red jersey will be a quality player. Liverpool have excellent strength in depth, with internationals littering the pitch and the substitutes bench.

The Toffies are not so lucky, which perhaps explains the envious glances through across the city by their supporters.
