Liverpool Player Ratings: Midfield

5. He has played more minutes than anyone else from the Liverpool midfield this season. Maybe we are just bleeding him dry before he moves on. He is simply not giving everything for the Liverpool. Too much coasting on the ball and not enough effort when we need to win it back. Klopp’s system demands more from its players. The fans demand more from their team.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. Center Midfield. Liverpool. JAMES MILNER. 6. More evidence that midfield reinforcements are needed at he club. Another night of being a touch behind the pace. Aside from that he goes about his business well and has a touch and vision that will surprise. Tucked away his penalty easily which is a relief after a season of terribly taken spot kicks.

8. A decent first half where he ‘won’ the penalty. It was a soft one with barely any contact but Everton had a similarly dubious decision in the league derby. Was blowing heavily by the 55th minute and should have come off slightly earlier. We could have done with Gini’s energy tracking back for the counter attack that gave Everton their goal..
