Lucas Leiva responds to accusations on Twitter that he encouraged Philippe Coutinho to leave Liverpool. And he will take none of your nonsense!
Professional footballers get tweeted at hundreds of times a day. Most of it is fanboy fawning or rancid ranting. The players tend to exist above it all. Occasionally something will catch their eye that will illicit a response.
Ex-Liverpool man Lucas Leiva took the time to respond to some allegations on Sunday night. He was being accused of encouraging Philippe Coutinho to leave Liverpool. The two countrymen are great friends together after spending five years together at Anfield.
Lucas was having none of it. The Lazio midfielder values his relationship with the Liverpool fans after becoming a cult hero during his decade at the club. He will not have casual speculation ruining that connection with Kopites.
Dear Patricia, I didn't encourage anyone and it is very sad to see comments like yours. https://t.co/hb2mYtlTZl

He doesn’t just take one tweet to set them straight. He’s loaded up the second shot to make sure there are no survivors. He finishes the second tweet with a simple ‘good night’. Delivered in as a savage finish to the conversation.
Leiva’s career at Anfield was filled with ups and downs. There were numerous times he had to endure the wrath of fans who were criticizing his performances. But hard work on the field won over all but the harshest of fans. His off-field personality was popular with players across his time at Liverpool.
Next: Lallana, Mahrez or Lemar? Who replaces Coutinho?
Liverpool are currently in Dubai in a midseason warm weather training camp. They are getting ready to face the unbeaten Manchester City on Sunday. The team will be planning their revenge after losing 5-0 to the Citizens earlier in the season. Despite losing Coutinho they will still fancy their chances back at Anfield in the Premier League.
