Liverpool will host Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday in the Premier League. Here are 5 reasons will be the first team to beat the Champions elect.

We’ve been waiting for this one. Ever since Liverpool suffered a bad 5-0 defeat to Man City in September the fans have been looking forward to settle the score. The red card given to Sadio Mane at the end of the first half killed the game. Liverpool were 1-0 down at the time but were pinning City back looking for an equalizer.

It is hard to contain Man City with 11 men. With 10 it is desperate. Liverpool, who are not renowned for stout defending, could not cope with the counter attacks in the second half. They conceded a string of breakaway goals to suffer a crushing defeat after a good start to the season.

While Man City have gone undefeated in the league this season, Liverpool have only lost one game since their last matchup. City are running away with the title 15 points ahead of Manchester United in second. They are 18 points ahead of us.

Many will look at our previous meeting and the gap in the table and presume Liverpool are in for another beating. Yet I think there are a number of reasons that can encourage the Reds not just enough to be vaguely hopeful, but good enough to actually believe we will at Anfield on Sunday.

A win on Sunday would take Liverpool’s unbeaten run to 18 games and will be a huge boost to confidence. The departure of Philippe Coutinho and the possibility of no other additions has left a bitter feeling after the holiday season. This would be a huge win to propel Liverpool towards success in 2018.
