Liverpool took on Manchester City and won, in thanks to a great performance from Andrew Robertson as he shut down Raheem Sterling.

The Reds defeated the Citizens 4-3, thanks to goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

After being pegged back to 1-1 by Leroy Sane, Jurgen Klopp’s men blitzed the away team’s defence and hit three past goalkeeper Ederson in just nine minutes.

But Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan scored twice to make it a very nervous finish at Anfield, but the majestic Reds held on to record a historic victory.

Part of that win was the way Robertson played off Sterling, who has been one of Pep Guardiola’s key men this campaign.

It was always going to be an emotionally charged return for the England international, who left Liverpool in acrimonious circumstances to join City.

Sterling was yellow carded, received a terrible WhoScored rating of 5.8 and was substituted as the 14-goal winger was off colour.

And in their joy, Reds fans have taken to the internet to post their reactions to the way Robertson handled his opposite man. Scroll down to see a selection of the best!
