Spanish journalist is trolling Liverpool fans by suggesting a mystery club in for Alexis Sanchez and refusing to rule Liverpool out of the transfer equation.

Guillem Balague is up to his old tricks again by implying Liverpool are in the race for Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal. The Chilean forward has been in a tug of war between Manchester United and Manchester City. Chelsea have also come into the picture in the last few days.

The Old Trafford side are offering £25 million and Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the striker. They stand to complete the signing if the Armenian can agree terms with Arsenal. However Balague has suggested today there is another club in for him; and he refused to rule out Liverpool.

Many fans on social media have been begging the club to make a move. It is rare that a world-class player becomes available for £25 million. Now it seems the Spanish journalist is playing into all those Kopite expectations with his claim.

Despite being loaded with £142 million from the Philippe Coutinho transfer the club are cool on the prospect of making a signing now. It would be a huge change of direction from FSG to sign a 29-year-old for a sizable fee.

There is also the issues of his wages. His is thought to be asking in the region of £300k a week. That would blow away the current Anfield wage structure. Doesn’t sound very FSG-ish does it?

Don’t get me wrong I love the idea of Sanchez playing for the Reds. His energy, work rate and skill would be perfect in Klopp’s Liverpool side. He is also available to play in the Champions League which would be a huge bonus. I just think there is no sane reading of this story that has Liverpool interest as genuine. Nice try Guillem.
