Right Back: Trent Alexander-Arnold

While there has been regular rotation between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez at the right back position it is clear that Klopp trusts Gomez more. The England international is undoubtedly the man for the big occasion.

However there have been some errors in his game leading to goals. Last week he badly misjudged Kyle Walker’s raking switch of play to Leroy Sane. That allowed the German to get inside and let off a rasping left foot finish.

That was the third error in the last 5 weeks leading to conceding a silly goal. While most would clearly rate Gomez as the better defender of the two options he is also not a natural right back. He is a center back learning his craft at full back.

I have no doubt that Swansea are going to play very deep. Trent Alexander-Arnold was crucial in the Boxing Day fixture. He scored his first league goal for the club and was instrumental in keeping Swansea pinned back for 90 minutes.

His pace and technique on the right side will be invaluable as Liverpool look to break down the amassed ranks of white shirts.
