Liverpool dropped their unbeaten run in poor fashion with a 1-0 loss to Swansea City at the Libery Stadium. Here are our Liverpool player ratings v Swansea.

From the sublime to the ridiculous. Liverpool followed their stunning 4-3 win against the unbeaten champions elect Manchester City with a poor showing today. The Reds suffered their first loss since October falling to a 1-0 loss to Swansea.

Jurgen Klopp only made one change to the side that beat Manchester City last weekend. Record signing Virgil van Dijk came in for his first league start for the club. Dejan Lovren missed out with illness. Despite traveling with the squad neither Jordan Henderson or Alberto Moreno were fit enough to make the bench.

A slow-paced first half was only interrupted by the Swansea goal which came from a corner. Virgil van Dijk’s header was left to fall and after a bobble or two fell to Alfie Mawson. The Swansea man put away the chance in the bottom corner.

Liverpool pressed for the rest of the game but could not turn their 72% possession into many meaningful chances. The best opportunity they created was in the very last-minute as Roberto Firmino headed against the post.

Here are the Liverpool player ratings v Swansea City:

Liverpool. LORIS KARIUS. 6. He is Liverpool’s number one. For now at least. Jurgen Klopp has given Karius the gloves after finally losing patience with Simon Mignolet. Had to make some nervy clearances in the first half as Swansea pressed high early. Not at fault for the goal which was a fortunate rebound for the secaond ball. After the Swans took the lead they sat back making for an east second half for the German with only one easy save to make.. Goalkeeper
