Liverpool player ratings: Midfield

7. Klopp handed Can the armband tonight as the longest serving player in the starting lineup.; despite the uncertainty of his future at the club. A good defensive game from Can who broke up a dozen Swansea counter attacks deep in their half. However his link up play left a lot to be desired. The compact Swansea defense and the poor pitch combined to make things very hard for the German to probe and test the opposition.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. EMRE CAN

GINI WIJNALDUM. 6. Played most of the game in a deeper role, allowing Can to be the one to press forward. The reality was Liverpool only needed three players behind the ball instead of the four or five that we had. Reluctant to leave his post and influence the game we badly missed some drive from deep areas. Was replaced by Danny Ings with 20 minutes to go as the Reds looked for an equalizer.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN. 6. The pace of the game was so slow in the first half that Oxlade-Chamberlain could not get into the rhythm of the match. His set piece delivery remains a huge plus to the side. One excellent curled free kick was quickly followed by a perfect corner to van Dijk who put the ball just wide. We noticed the dip in set piece taking when Salah was on corner duty after Oxlade-Chamberlain made way for Adam Lallana.. Center Midfield
