Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

Liverpool. JOE GOMEZ. 7. Has a busy first 20 minutes as Huddersfield flirted with the idea of attacking. But after that he cruised through the easiest game he will ever have in a red shirt. Will have much more to do against Spurs at the weekend.. Right Back

7. A much more comfortable evening for Matip. He badly struggled against West Brom but was back to his normal self today. Had more to do with the ball that without it. Really not sure about his big white boots.. Center Back. Liverpool. JOEL MATIP

Rotated in for Virgil van Dijk after the Dutchman was rested for the Tottenham Hotspur game. This was a perfect game for him to shine. One dimensional forwards who cannot beat a defense with pace or a trick. Lovren laps up that kind of predictable attack.. Center Back. Liverpool. DEJAN LOVREN. 7

ANDREW ROBERTSON. 7. Had precisely zero defending to do in the first half as Liverpool were camped in Huddersfield territory. He got plenty of possession as the wide option on the left where Liverpool did most of their attacking from. Tried a ton of crosses but could not find his range. Needs to work on getting closer to Sadio Mane and linking up the attacking play with short interchanges.. Left Back. Liverpool
