Liverpool Player Ratings: Midfield

Center Midfield. Liverpool. EMRE CAN. 8. Released to go further forward with Henderson back in the side the German got Liverpool up and running with a goal to break the deadlock. From 30 yards out he hit a low pile-driver into the bottom right corner. Gerrard-esque. If he leaves on a free it won’t be a disaster but it makes more sense to give him a new contract and continue his development.

Center Midfield. Liverpool. JORDAN HENDERSON. 8. Good to see the captain back in the first eleven for the first time since Christmas. Took over from Emre Can in the deep midfield role and had all the time in the world. Huddersfield were so deep in their own half that Henderson could take his time to find his passing range. After trying too many hope full long passes to Salah early on he began to dial in the short game. Was excellent overall and helped lead Liverpool to an easy win

6. Without fail, a Liverpool midfielder will go missing in a game. Often it’s Gini. Occasionally it is Henderson. Today it was Milner. Nominally he was on the left of the midfield trio but spent most of his time covering for Robertson who was giving Liverpool width from full back. Generously let Mohamed Salah take the second half penalty.. Center Midfield. Liverpool. JAMES MILNER
