Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

A surprise name on the team sheet with Joe Gomez suffering an injury in training. Showed off his crossing in the first half creating a couple of chances for his teammates. Read the danger very well when Spurs were on the counter.. Right Back. Liverpool. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD. 6

DEJAN LOVREN. 7. It has long be said that Dejan Lovren prefers playing on the right of the center back duo. this game gives credence to his claim that this is his better position. Really benefits from having a decisive and confident partner.. Center Back. Liverpool

Center Back. Liverpool. VIRGIL VAN DIJK. 8. Are you sick of hearing the word colossus? Because you are going to hear it time and time again. He was immense in the first half winning headers in both boxes and breaking up the play with instinctive, determined tackling. Absolutely robbed for the penalty. Makes an initial move for a tackle before Lamela runs into him. Gutted for the big man who was immense tonight.

7. One lax piece of passing in our box aside he was excellent in the first half. His engine is incredible; you simply expect him to be at the back for every opposition attack and then up front when we are going forward.. Left Back. Liverpool. ANDREW ROBERTSON
