Liverpool fans are in Paddy Power’s corner after the bookmaker trolled referee Jon Moss after their 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Mohamed Salah scored an incredible goal in the 91st minute to take the Anfield side ahead of their away team before Harry Kane equalised with a 95th minute penalty.

And it’s that decision that has seen fans pour scorn and anger on Moss, who originally waved play on before going with his assistant’s advice and awarded the spot kick.

Kane, who had already missed once in the game, stepped up again and did not make the same mistake twice.

It’s that moment in the game – going with the assistant instead of sticking to his guns – that Irish betting shop Paddy Power have leapt all over in their Twitter post.

The foul happened when Virgil van Dijk appeared to make contact with Erik Lamela’s calf inside the box, but numerous video angles and slow motion replays suggest the contact was faked.

Either way, it was a ridiculously marginal call and an over the lop reaction for the Argentine, who flopped to the floor like someone had cut his leg off.

It stopped what would have been an excellent win for the Reds, who were looking to put pressure on Chelsea after their surprise hammering at the hands of Bournemouth.

Liverpool are now in third place, five points behind Manchester United in second. The Blues are in fourth, but are only one point behind Jurgen Klopp’s team and have a game in hand.

Spurs are fifth, just two points behind the Reds with a goal difference that’s just one inferior to the Merseyside giants.

Things could hardly be closer as the fight for all four Champions League places will go down to the fire. The race for the golden boot will be just as tight, with Kane on 22 goals and Salah just behind with 21.
