Liverpool: This is the back four we want to see against Southampton
By David Gate
Center Back: Virgil van Dijk
Boooooooooooo. You better get used to hearing that as the Southampton fans will be doing it every time Virgil van Dijk touches the ball on Sunday. As well they should; his agitation for a move disrupted the whole first half of their season. How do you feel about Coutinho right now? Imagine if he had gone to another Premier League club… exactly.
Liverpool are yet to keep a clean sheet with the Dutchman in the side. They have conceded seven goals in his four starts. The only game he missed was the only clean sheet we have kept since he arrived.
Despite that he has played well. I am only highlighting that to say there is still settling in and teething problems to ease through. Van Dijk himself has asked for patience from the Liverpool fans while they work out how to run this back four with the record signing in place.
I am expecting a top performance from van Dijk on his old stomping ground. He will be keen to show his old club the best of his ability and hope to quiet the boo boys with a decent Liverpool victory and a clean sheet.
