2. Another Firmino Flick

After last weekend’s win against Southampton the internet blew up over Roberto Firmino’s flicked assist for Mohamed Salah. On Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football show, analyst Thierry Henry dissected the goal.  It left him searching for new superlatives. The highest compliment saying that he would have like to have played with the Brazilian. When you have played alongside Dennis Bergkamp, Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi that really is high praise.

To prove that was no fluke, Firmino did it again against Porto. And just like against Southampton it ended up in a goal. the only difference was this one happened in the Liverpool half.

Firmino had come very deep to receive a pass as Liverpool were trying to get out of their box after a Porto attack at 2-0. Rather than collect the ball with his back to goal he simply flicks the ball behind him; perfectly into the space in front of Salah

The Epyptian burst forward and fed the ball back to Firmino, whose shot was blocked. Mane was on hand to slam in the rebound.

That piece of magic turned the game. Liverpool were in an area of no danger to Porto as the Portugues side were pushing for a way back  into the game. One moment of brilliance and the game – maybe even the tie – was over.
