Center Back: Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool do not need to rest players on Saturday. The 5-0 win at Porto gives the total control of the second leg. This Premier League game must take priority as Liverpool look to secure second place in the table. With Manchester United and Chelsea playing on Sunday the Reds will go second with win and know that at least one of their closest rivals will drop points.

Therefore I think there is no way that Klopp interrupts Virgil van Dijk’s great run of form to rest him for midweek.

He has been magnificent in the last month as looks confident and settled in the Liverpool system. West Ham will almost certainly play one lone striker; either Chicharito with Arnautovic deep or just Arnautovic on his own. Either way van Dijk will be dominant against the weaker, smaller forwards.

If Moyes is true to type the Hammers will punt long balls to their forward. Liverpool will have van Dijk to marshal any aerial danger and take the game to the opposition with the ball at his feet.
