Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

8. If TAA was at Chelsea, Man City, Spurs or Man Utd he would be touted for the World Cup and heralded as one of the brightest young stars in Europe. While the media may not appreciate him fully you can see that Klopp does. With Gomez fully fit Alexander-Arnold got the nod again and put in an excellent display to reward Klopp’s faith.. Right Back. Liverpool. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD

Center Back. Liverpool. JOEL MATIP. 6. The only poor player in the first half after allowing both of West Ham’s best chances. He is better in possession than Lovren but that is not worth breaking the growing relationship between the Croat and van Dijk for. Is there any chance that Klopp will try Gomez at with van Dijk before the season’s out?

Virgil van Dijk has singled handedly stopped long balls from working against Liverpool. He owns every square each of air above the Anfield turf. At no fault for the West Ham goal in a largely eventless second half. As you were.. Center Back. Liverpool. VIRGIL VAN DIJK. 8

No more talk about left back; Liverpool have their man. Exemplary in defense once again, never giving anything easy on his side. Ventured forward at every opportunity and fired in some wicked crosses and was unlucky not to get an assist after Salah couldn’t quite get a header on target. Got caught upfield for Antonio’s goal though that was more on Can losing possession. Fantastic assist for Mane to make it four for the Reds.. Left Back. Liverpool. ANDREW ROBERTSON. 8
